Community development has given so much benefit to people in rural
places. This is because people were actively involved in many development
processes, including idea brainstorming. People are no longer considered as
client, but working partner. This successful community development is also
supported with commitment to upgrade people’s life by developing some important
(yet barely unnoticed) natural resources.
Nowadays, energy crisis is happening
in almost all sides of the earth, spreading worries about decreasing supply of
energy sources, increasing tenses in political parties. This clearly force
administrations, unions of governments to take evasive action, developing more
sustain and cheap energy, keeping the lights on in villages.
Energy crisis will
also influence so many policies in a country’s economy, especially for rural
people. Impact from energy resource declining was in climbing of gas prices and
base rate for electricity. These could stop economy in villages. Taking a
further step responding to the crisis, the Ministry of Technology and Research,
and Space Administration Cooperation (LAPAN) jointly develop wind turbine generator
and solar cell blocks in Pantai Baru, Ngentak, Pandansimo, Bantul, a fishermen’s regency about 30 kilometers
southbound city of Yogyakarta. Today a group of people in this small part of
rural land of Ngentak have been taking benefit from renewable energy usage
written above.
The purposed of this research is to know the potential of renewable
energy such as wind turbine and solar cell in Ngentak. Furthermore, this report
examines the benefit from renewable energy considering its effects in people’s
economic and social life. This research is written after observation and
exploration. This method observed with an intensive interview with relevant
respondent, gathering information used later on in analysis. This result from
the research is expected to give enough descriptions about renewable energy
that has been used, and developed in a rural place. Hopefully, this research can be taken as
example to elaborate better ideas in developing more regions with same issues.
